Full Description
Start your adventure with a very early pickup from your accommodation in Bali and travel comfortably to the Mount Batur trekking starting point. Upon arrival, begin the hike in complete darkness, guided only by the flashlights provided by your trekking guide.
The first section of the hike lasts around 50 minutes and is relatively gentle, following a clear and manageable trail with only a slight incline. After the midway rest stop, the path becomes steeper and more challenging, resembling a stair-like climb as you approach higher elevations. During low season, the trek can be completed more quickly, while in peak season the trail may be crowded with other hikers, which can slow the pace.
When you reach the summit, take a moment to rest and prepare for the incredible sunrise. While you wait, your guide will serve a simple boxed breakfast. On clear mornings, you may even see Mount Agung rising in the distance, creating a spectacular backdrop for photos. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and capture memorable moments from the top.
After sunrise, spend some time exploring the surrounding caldera area. From the summit, you can also observe the dramatic black lava fields formed by past volcanic activity.
Once you have finished exploring the summit area, begin the descent with your guide leading the way. The ground near the top consists mostly of loose gravel, so it is important to walk carefully and maintain steady footing. Wearing proper hiking shoes is highly recommended for better grip and safety.
At approximately 8:30 AM, you will arrive back at the parking area where your driver will be waiting to take you back to your accommodation. On the return journey, you will also have the opportunity to stop by a local coffee plantation if you wish.
