From Yogyakarta: Mount Merbabu 2-Day Hike at Sunrise & Sunset

Day 1

Your day will start with the pickup service from your accommodation in Yogyakarta at 09.00AM and you will travel for around 2 hours to the northern side of the volcano into the New Selo Village. Be prepared in the afternoon to start your ascent. This typically takes around 3 hours in order to reach the Savanna peak, depending on your fitness level.

When you arrive at the Savanna’s peak take a moment to enjoy the wonderful views and the sun setting over the horizon. After witnessing the sunset, you will set up your campsite for an overnight stay with the assistance of your guide. You can then relax during your free time, rest, and prepare for the exciting sunrise hike the following day.

Day 2

You will need to wake up early in order to catch the sunrise view on Mount Merbabu. Expect a 1.5 hour hike where you will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery and a magical atmosphere. From Mount Merbabu you will be able to enjoy spectacular views of Central Java Province and Merapi Volcano. 

After witnessing an unforgettable sunrise you can get back to Savanna peak and savor a delightful breakfast before hiking back to your basecamp where you will be taken back to your accommodation in Yogyakarta by your driver.
